Rank Five
-
Swordmetal Veratyr-
Veratyrs have devoted their entire career to dragon-slaying, sword-slashing, heart-pounding metal! These bands are known throughout the world, inspiring and pushing the genre to new heights. This is the highest ranking a band can achieve at Swordmetal; any group in this category is absolute 100% pure awesome. If the bands here aren't on your playlist, they should be.
Translation: God of Men.
Rank Four
-
Swordmetal Jötun-
These bands have proven to be Giants in the genre and have easily risen above the "norm". Despite the epic lyrics, incredible talent, and supreme bad assery, these bands have yet to become part of Swordmetal history and rise into the ranks of the Veratyrs. This category shows the world that these bands are on their way to becoming legendary in the metal scene. Keep your eyes open to see these groups rise even higher in the future.
Translation: A race of Giants.
Rank Three
-
Swordmetal Dvergar-
Dvergars are bands that play amazing music, but have only given us a small taste of Swordmetal content amongst their many albums. Lots of bands fit into this category. They may have quite a few albums, but finding more than a few fantasy themed songs in their discography can be tough. All of these bands have solid collections that are definitely worth listening to.
Translation: A name for the Svartalfar or Dwarves.
Rank Two
-
Swordmetal Fjolnir-
A Fjolnir is a band that has shown extreme potential but is still young to the genre. Listening to their material, you can tell they have what it takes to represent True Metal. With two or three more albums, a few more years experience, and a bit of polish overall, you will definitely see these bands rise through the ranks in the future.
Translation: Minor God of wisdom and learning.
Rank One
-
Swordmetal Auroch-
Aurochs don't sing of dragons, swords, or battles, yet still remain amongst our favorite metal bands. Bands like this inspire us all and definitely deserve a mention on Swordmetal. If it's a fantasy theme you're searching for, this won't be the best place to start. However, if you're looking for an amazing band with incredible skill and talent, Aurochs are a solid beginning.
Translation: The extinct wild ox of Europe. Symbolized by the rune Uruz. Awesome Blitzball team.
